CMS Provides MIPS Reporting Relief and Extension
CMS is issuing an extension to the 2019 data submission deadline through April 30, 2020. Specifically, the agency is granting exceptions from reporting requirements and extensions for clinicians and providers participating in Medicare quality reporting programs with respect to upcoming measure reporting and data submission.
CMS Announces Plans to Change Prior Authorization Rules
CMS Administrator, Seema Verma, on February 11, announced the agency’s intent to reform prior authorization regulations later this year. According to Verma, the changes “will reduce administrative waste, increase patient safety and free physicians to spend time caring for their patients.”
New York Updates Quality Measures for Medicaid Managed Care Organizations in the Value Based Payment Program
The New York Department of Health released the 2020 value-based payment (VBP) Reporting Requirements Technical Specifications Manual for Measurement Year (MY) 2019. The report includes an overview of the specific quality measure reporting requirements for each VBP arrangement, as well as a description of the changes to the measure sets from 2018 to 2019.

CMS has released an addendum to the electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) annual update specifications originally published in May 2017. This addendum updates eCQM value sets for the 2018 performance period for Eligible Professionals (EPs) and Eligible Clinicians (ECs).
NY – Department of Health Launches Value Based Payment Learning Resources
The New York Department of Health has launched an on-line learning program: VBP University as an educational resource designed to raise awareness, knowledge and expertise in the move to Value Based Payment (VBP). The program combines informational videos and supplemental materials that look at the state’s VBP Roadmap and its requirements for addressing social determinants of health (SDH).
