UHC Radiology Program Procedure Code Changes

January 2019 ~

Beginning January 1, UnitedHealthcare (UHC) is updating the procedure code list for the Radiology Notification and Prior Authorization Programs based on code changes made by the American Medical Association (AMA).

The following CPT^® codes are being added to the Radiology Notification and Prior Authorization list:

Code: 77046

Code Description: Magnetic resonance imaging, breast, without contrast material; unilateral

Comments: New code replacing 77058 (77058 is a deleted code as of Jan. 1, 2019)

Code: 77047

Code Description: Magnetic resonance imaging, breast, without contrast material; bilateral

Comments: New code replacing 77059 (77059 is a deleted code as of Jan. 1, 2019)

Code: 77048

Code Description: Magnetic resonance imaging, breast, without and with contrast material(s), including computer-aided detection (CAD real-time lesion detection, characterization and pharmacokinetic analysis), when performed; unilateral

Comments: New code replacing 77058 (77058 is a deleted code as of Jan. 1, 2019)

Code: 77049

Code Description: Magnetic resonance imaging, breast, without and with contrast material(s), including computer-aided detection (CAD real-time lesion detection, characterization and pharmacokinetic analysis), when performed; bilateral
