Aetna has issued an update regarding the use of CPT II codes for HEDIS^® high blood pressure measurements for patients diagnosed with hypertension.

Aetna instructs that CPT II codes be used for HEDIS^® high blood pressure measurements.

For patients diagnosed with hypertension, the insurer states claims or encounter data should be submitted with Current Procedural Terminology^® (CPT^®) II codes for blood pressure results obtained during 2018 office visits.

CPT^® is a registered trademark of the American Medical Association.
