MA – OptumHealth to Acquire Reliant Medical Group

OptumHealth, a subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare, has announced plans to acquire Reliant Medical Group, a physician group out of Massachusetts.

The acquisition represents Optum’s first venture into the state’s provider market. and will place Optum’s technology and network at Reliant’s 25 locations throughout the state.

According to Reliant, “by partnering with Optum, Reliant expects to bolster its ability to grow and expand, modernize many of its clinical facilities, have access to advanced data analytics capabilities, and attract top medical talent to its practices.”

Reliant and Optum will now move toward a definitive agreement, subject to Massachusetts regulatory review and approval. If approved, Reliant would continue to serve patients through multiple insurance plans as well as continue to be locally operated and serve patients under the Reliant Medical Group brand in the Central and Metro West regions (to include Southboro Medical Group, a division of Reliant Medical Group).
